UTAH’S BEST COOKING SCHOOL

Salt Lake Culinary Education is a culinary school in Utah that offers hands-on cooking classes, private events, team building activities and Utah’s only ACF approved accelerated 12-week professional culinary course and 6-week baking and pastry course.

Our commitment and desire to go the extra mile provides an outstanding experience and are the hallmarks and basis of our business philosophy.  We believe that eating well and breaking bread with others are two of life’s greatest pleasures and are the heart of everyday cooking.

We support local chefs and bring purveyors of unique culinary items into our classrooms whenever possible to share their knowledge and ideas with our students.

Professional Knife Sharpening

We offer professional knife sharpening on-site. Schedule a date to drop off your knives and we will contact you to pick them up when they’re finished. Knives are usually sharpened by the next business day.

 *Please note: The cost for professionally sharpening knives is $3.25/inch. Not all knives can be sharpened.

Basic Knife Skills Class

Sharpen your knife skills too! If you haven’t taken a basic knife skills class, we highly recommend it!  You’ll learn how to care for knives, choose the proper knife for the job, keep your knives sharp, properly wash them, and more! Plus, you can bring one knife to class and we will sharpen it for you (for free!)

Frequently Asked Questions

Our class sizes are small to offer the most individualized attention and hands-on opportunities. Students will generally work in small groups in class and everyone will contribute to a shared meal.

Dress casually and comfortably. Flat, closed-toe, non-slip shoes are required. We will provide you with an apron to wear during class. Please refrain from wearing any dangling or excessive jewelry as well as loose hanging clothing.

No refunds for cancellation will be accepted.  All Sales are Final. No refund will be issued to your credit card.  Please do not ask us to make exceptions. 

In the event you are unable to attend, you may allow someone else (i.e., a friend, family member, etc) to take your place.  Your replacement will need to provide us with the name of the registered participant at the time of class check in. 

We will offer store credit to a future class if you notify us minimum 72 hours prior to class date. No communication or no shows will not be eligible for class credit or future class transfer.

We will make a determination no later than 2 hours prior to a class and in the event of a cancellation of a class due to inclement weather, we will make every attempt to notify you by phone or email using the information you provided to us upon registration. We encourage you to check your email.  If we choose to notify everyone via phone and we are not able to speak with you in person, we will leave a message.  We will assume that you listen to your phone messages on a regular basis.  We encourage you to call us if you are in doubt. Unless you hear from us via email or phone based on the information provided to us at registration, the class will be held. We will make every effort to reschedule the class within a two week period.  If, however, you cannot attend the rescheduled class, we will issue store credit for the entire class amount that can be used for any future class.

There are a minimum number of students required in order for a class to occur.  We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive store credit for any future class.

Yes, waiting lists are maintained for sold out classes.  Please call the school at 801-464-0113 to have your name added to the waiting list.  You will be notified if a space becomes available.

For date Night classes, one reservation is for 2 guests.  Please select “1” when registering.

Our secure online system allows us to accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Online payment via credit card is secure, fast, easy and will guarantee that your registration is processed immediately.

Salt Lake Culinary Education is pleased to be an active and supportive member of our great community. We would love to be able to grant all donations requests that come our way, however we need to be mindful of the budget we can spend. We are happy to consider your donation request if it meets the following criteria:

  • We support organizations that are local (based in Utah) and are food related—nutrition, healthy eating, life skills, sustainable agriculture, locally sourced/produced, education, etc). If your organization qualifies please proceed with a donation request.
  • Donation requests must be made in writing.
  • Include a cover letter stating the exact request and why, be sure to include promotional or other considerations Salt Lake Culinary Education would receive.
  • We’re sorry but verbal requests and requests via social media (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, etc) for donations will not be considered. Please allow 2 weeks for us to review your request.

Your health and safety are extremely important to us.

We are taking every precaution to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen and classroom environment. We regularly clean and disinfect our facility throughout the day and class sizes are currently limited to practice proper distancing. All staff is required to wear a face mask. We are doing everything we can to keep our guests and SLICE team safe, and are asking for your help with these additional precautions:

  • Upon arrival, you will sign in and have your temperature taken at the front desk. Any guests with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to go home.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask and gloves during the prep and cooking segments of class. You will be allowed to remove your face mask once you are seated at a dining table.
  • Please wash your hands upon arrival and after touching your phone, your face, door handles, and other surfaces outside of the kitchen.
