How to Blind Bake Pie Crust

Blind Baked Pie Crust

Ingredients:
1 recipe pie dough
Flour, for dusting work surface

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. On a chilled counter top, roll pie dough out into a circle about 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick. Make sure this circle is about 3 inches larger than your pie dish.
3. Carefully roll pie dough around rolling pin to pick it up and transfer it into pie dish.
4. Gently lay dough into dish and drape into the edges, being careful not to stretch or pull it.
5. Tuck any extra dough that falls outside the pie dish under itself to create a crust. Using the pointer finger and thumb on one hand, and your pointer finger on the other, push and pinch dough around the crust to create a decorative edge.
6. Crumple parchment paper and place into prepared pie dough. Weight down with ceramic pie weights or dried beans.
7. Bake in preheated oven for 15-30 minutes, depending on how golden you like your pies.
8. Remove from oven, cool, and fill with your favorite fillings!

Your health and safety are extremely important to us.

We are taking every precaution to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen and classroom environment. We regularly clean and disinfect our facility throughout the day and class sizes are currently limited to practice proper distancing. All staff is required to wear a face mask. We are doing everything we can to keep our guests and SLICE team safe, and are asking for your help with these additional precautions:

  • Upon arrival, you will sign in and have your temperature taken at the front desk. Any guests with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to go home.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask and gloves during the prep and cooking segments of class. You will be allowed to remove your face mask once you are seated at a dining table.
  • Please wash your hands upon arrival and after touching your phone, your face, door handles, and other surfaces outside of the kitchen.
