Basic Knife Skills – February 4th

This is an essential class for beginners as well as those who may want to refresh their skills.  A fundamental skill needed to cook and prepare food is proper knife work. This class is designed to teach you to handle a knife correctly, practice precise and controlled cuts, and become a more confident and efficient cook.  During each class we’ll prepare a short recipe using the ingredients you’ve practiced cutting and you’ll create a simple meal to enjoy at the end of class. Here are a few topics you’ll explore in class:

  • How to choose the right knife for you & the job you’re doing
  • How to keep a sharp edge on your chef knife
  • How to properly grip a chef knife
  • Fundamentals of knife work – slice, dice, mince, and more with a chef knife
  • Cook a simple meal from the ingredients used in your knife skills session

*$95 per ticket. Gratuity is not included. The option to add a gratuity for your chef instructors and our team is available at your discretion. 

*Please be on time and wear closed-toe shoes.

*Please note:  All purchases are nonrefundable.  Our cancellation policy requires 72 hours notice in order to reschedule your reservation.  If you cancel with less than 72 hours before your scheduled class, Salt Lake Culinary Education will NOT provide refunds, credits or class transfers for classes missed.  If this circumstance arises, you are welcome to send someone in your place.

Your health and safety are extremely important to us.

We are taking every precaution to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen and classroom environment. We regularly clean and disinfect our facility throughout the day and class sizes are currently limited to practice proper distancing. All staff is required to wear a face mask. We are doing everything we can to keep our guests and SLICE team safe, and are asking for your help with these additional precautions:

  • Upon arrival, you will sign in and have your temperature taken at the front desk. Any guests with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to go home.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask and gloves during the prep and cooking segments of class. You will be allowed to remove your face mask once you are seated at a dining table.
  • Please wash your hands upon arrival and after touching your phone, your face, door handles, and other surfaces outside of the kitchen.
