Calling all foodies ages 12 and up! Join our debut teen chef academy! Six classes, over a period of six months, are modeled after our professional institute. Your teen chef will experience a taste of culinary school. Teen Chef Academy will include the six 4 hour sessions listed below, a personalized embroidered chef coat and beanie as well as all of the curriculum/learning materials in a customized binder.

January 29: Knife skills, veggies, fruits, flavorings
February 26: Stocks, sauces, pasta
March 26:  Hors d’oeuvres, amuse bouche, appetizers
April 23: Meat and egg cookery
May 21: Baking and pastry
June 18: International cuisine
We will provide the necessary equipment for the course. However, if your teen chef would like to have their own personal equipment to use and take home, additional kits are available for purchase.
Knife Essentials Kit: 8″ Wusthof chef knife and honing steel
Baking Essentials Kit: piping bags, piping tips, bench scraper, food scale, rolling pin, and baking mat
Kitchen Essentials Kit:  microplane, hi-temp silicone spatula, and super-fast waterproof pocket thermometer

*Course is for Teen Chefs ages 12-18.

*Please be on time, in comfortable attire and closed-toe shoes. Face masks are required.

*Please note: All purchases are nonrefundable.  Salt Lake Culinary Education will NOT provide refunds, credits, or class transfers for classes missed.  No make-up classes will be offered.

Your health and safety are extremely important to us.

We regularly clean and disinfect our facility throughout the day and class sizes are currently limited to practice proper distancing. All staff is required to wear a face mask. We are doing everything we can to keep our guests and SLICE team safe, and are asking for your help with these additional precautions:

  • Upon arrival, you will sign in and have your temperature taken at the front desk. Any guests with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to go home.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask and gloves during the prep and cooking segments of class. You will be allowed to remove your face mask once you are seated at a dining table.
  • Please wash your hands upon arrival and after touching your phone, your face, door handles, and other surfaces outside of the kitchen.
