Teen Chef Academy I January 24th – May 30th

Teen Chef Academy I is multi-day series that is modeled after our professional culinary institute. In this series, your teen chef will experience a taste of culinary school! This course will introduce young, aspiring chefs to culinary concepts, kitchen basics and fundamental techniques. Course curriculum includes but is not limited to the following: knife skills, vegetable preparation, fresh fruits, flavorings, stocks, sauces, handmade pasta, hors d’oeuvres, amuse bouche, appetizers, meat and egg cookery, baking and pastry, and international cuisines.

Teen Chef Academy will include six 5-hour days, a graduation ceremony, a chef coat and beanie, as well as all of the curriculum/learning materials in a customized binder. Best of all, the Teen Chefs will get to invite their friends and family to come enjoy a graduation ceremony and taste some of the delicious things they’ve learned to make!

Teen Academy classes will be held on the following dates from 10 am – 3 pm:

  • January 24th – Knife Skills, Vegetables, Fruits, Flavorings
  • February 21st – Stocks, Sauces, Pasta
  • March 21st – Hors D’oeuvres, Amuse Buche, Appetizers
  • April 18th – Meat & Egg Cooking
  • May 16th – Baking & Pastry
  • May 30th – Graduation Day !

*Teen Chefs will prepare for graduation from 10 AM – 3 PM and the celebration will be held at 3 PM. Each Teen Chef can invite 4 guests.

  • Teen Chef Academy is for Teen Chefs ages 13-18.
  • Please be on time, in comfortable attire and closed-toe shoes.
  • Teen Chef Academy is $1,175. Gratuity is not included. The option to add a gratuity for your chef instructors and our team is available at your discretion.

*Please note:  All purchases are nonrefundable.  Salt Lake Culinary Education will NOT provide refunds, credits or class transfers for classes missed.  If this circumstance arises, your teen will be provided with all materials for the missed class.

Your health and safety are extremely important to us.

We are taking every precaution to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen and classroom environment. We regularly clean and disinfect our facility throughout the day and class sizes are currently limited to practice proper distancing. All staff is required to wear a face mask. We are doing everything we can to keep our guests and SLICE team safe, and are asking for your help with these additional precautions:

  • Upon arrival, you will sign in and have your temperature taken at the front desk. Any guests with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to go home.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask and gloves during the prep and cooking segments of class. You will be allowed to remove your face mask once you are seated at a dining table.
  • Please wash your hands upon arrival and after touching your phone, your face, door handles, and other surfaces outside of the kitchen.
