An essential class for beginners as well as those who may want to sharpen their skills.  The fundamental skill needed to cook and prepare food is proper knife work.

SLICE’s Chef will go in-depth into this fundamental skill needed to cook and prepare food.

  • How to choose the right knife for you & the job you’re doing
  • How to keep a sharp edge on your chef knife
  • How to properly grip a chef knife
  • Fundamentals of knife work-slice, dice, mince with a chef knife
  • Enjoy cooking a dish from the ingredients students have practiced on

Once you master proper knife skills, cooking will become easier and more fun.

*Please be on time, in comfortable attire, and closed-toe shoes. Masks are required.
*Class is for Junior Chefs ages 9-14

Cancellation Policy:

Salt Lake Culinary Education requires 72 hours notice in order to reschedule your reservation.  If you cancel with less than 72 hours before your scheduled class, Salt Lake Culinary Education will NOT provide refunds, credits or class transfers for classes missed.  If this circumstance arises, you are welcome to send someone in your place.

Your health and safety are extremely important to us.

We are taking every precaution to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen and classroom environment. We regularly clean and disinfect our facility throughout the day and class sizes are currently limited to practice proper distancing. All staff is required to wear a face mask. We are doing everything we can to keep our guests and SLICE team safe, and are asking for your help with these additional precautions:

  • Upon arrival, you will sign in and have your temperature taken at the front desk. Any guests with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to go home.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask and gloves during the prep and cooking segments of class. You will be allowed to remove your face mask once you are seated at a dining table.
  • Please wash your hands upon arrival and after touching your phone, your face, door handles, and other surfaces outside of the kitchen.
